Vertical Venture Partners announces the final close of VVP I with $51.3M.
PALO ALTO, CA – (Marketwire – September 30, 2016) – Vertical Venture Partners (VVP), an early-stage venture capital firm with deep Silicon Valley roots and an exclusive focus on enterprise information technology opportunities in targeted vertical industries, announced the final close of their inaugural fund (VVP I) with $51.3M of committed capital. Investors include institutional LP’s, family offices and angels. VVP I will focus on enterprise IT sectors including cyber security, cloud-based services and applications, CRM, mobile applications and big data & advanced analytics; all targeted at specific vertical markets including retail, financial services, transportation and education.
VVP I has already made multiple investments: Lanetix, a cloud based CRM company targeting the transportation vertical, received Seed funding from VVP and has since closed follow on rounds led by Jackson Square Ventures. Likewise, Embroker, targeting the business insurance vertical, received their Seed funding from VVP and recently closed a Series A round led by Canaan Partners. VVP’s most recent investment is Profitect. Based in Boston, Profitect provides data integration and advanced analytics to the retail vertical. VVP co-invested with BGV in this round.
David Schwab will join the Profitect Board of Directors. “Enterprise reliance on advanced analytics is peaking and we see demand increasing for this important technology,” states Schwab. “We have identified Profitect as the most robust solution on the market with substantial traction with name brand retailers. With their significant traction and industry knowledge, we are confident in their efforts and will provide our expertise and contacts to help them grow.”
